This job is an excellent opportunity for a graphic designer! You get use all the expertise you learned throughout the years in Digital Strategies, Digital Experience Standards and Design Systems.


Core Duties/Responsibilities

You must be a planner! jYou will:

  • Attend weekly meetings and be prepared to discuss updates on UI efforts within each focus area, as well as any known risks or issues
  • Attend meetings with Business Architects and Application Architects to uncover and work through business requirements
  • Work with PMs to open issues/risks when requirements will hinder the digital user experience
  • During Architecture Team meetings, verbally advocate for use of Digital Experience Standards in interface design everywhere they are applicable. This includes general advocacy of the standards but also guidance and direction on specific user interface decisions.
  • Work with PMs to open issues/risks when Standards are being compromised
  • Consult with the UI design teams to ensure that the standards are being adhered to for all interface design decisions
  • Review all design deliverables with the UI team at key checkpoints. Provide feedback with regard to scope, business requirements, Digital Experience Standards and Design System.
  • Attend research team meetings to understand the usability test plans and communicate those plans to the UI design teams
  • Work with PMs to open issues/risks when research test plans do not allow time for feedback to be incorporated prior to delivery dates
  • Attend checkpoint meetings to address questions regarding adherence to Digital Experience Standards as they are applied to design deliverables
  • Communicate to PMs and UI teams when appropriate stakeholders are not present in meetings. This includes special attention to the project leads and UI team representatives.
  • Identify and document issues that may impact the UI across focus areas and notify the appropriate people
  • Regularly communicate with the other consultants to track whether any of their UI decisions will affect your area of focus. When issues are identified that will affect your area, document them and communicate them to the UI team.
  • Identify and document issues that impact consistency and quality across UIs
  • Escalate (to leadership) any business or technical decisions that adversely impact the quality of user experience, when you have exhausted your ability to influence the direction of the focus area, especially regarding:
  • Processes, requirements, timing, etc.
  • Consumer insights (or the lack of) being disregarded
  • Compliance with the Digital Standards or Design System
  • Consistency across lines of business or capabilities

Outcomes:

  • A complete understanding of the phase-level scope of work (including, current-state assessments, existing research insights, and business objectives)
  • A robust understanding of business requirements and influence on “upstream” decisions that will affect the UI “downstream”
  • Prevention of the UI team being inadvertently pulled beyond scope, thus enabling the team to remain focused on what is within planned scope (more controlled change-management)
  • More efficient planning between the UI teams and research teams, which will lead to increased ability to apply findings to user experience decisions
  • Improved UI consistency and quality across all focus areas
  • Well informed leadership
  • Final deliverables that successfully uphold the Digital Experience Standards and comply with the Design System

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as human-computer interaction, graphic design, or industrial design.
  • 5+ years’ experience as an information architect, interaction designer, or experience designer (or similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to design complex transactional interfaces, taxonomies and metadata frameworks, and templates for content management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience observing user research and translating user research into design decisions
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in client services and negotiating business decisions
  • Willingness to travel
